David is hosting a 'Roadshow' in Sturminster Newton on Photography and Travel. He is one of the countries leading landscape and travel photographers who enjoys sharing his photographic expertise
with his usual re nowned humour. I would like to send a letter and flyer about the show to cascade down to your members. Could you send me an e mail address with the Camera clubs name so I can send you this info. Everyone who has attended thus far have said it was the best talk they had been on and they felt inspired.
I look forward to hearing from you....please send to wendy@davidnoton.com

I wholeheartedly sympathise with the author of this article.

I was asked not to photograph my own daughter, who was practising her back dives off a springboard. The diving pool is located in its own designated area, away from the main swimming pools, and there was nobody else present in the diving pool or its vicinity, except her coach, who was coaching her.

When I challenged the request, I was told that it was 'Council Policy', which I completely ignored and went ahead anyway. I really wanted to meet the brainless cretins who impose a blanket ban, knowing full well that the spotty youths in their employ are incapable of intelligent debate, have never been exposed to the concept of 'common sense' and whose stock response to every challenge is 'It's health & safety'!

Needless to say, the so-called manager, was reulctant to leave the xbox game he was playing, to deal with an awkward parent who won't tow the line!

God help us - what is this country coming to?!?!?!

Dear All,

We are running Party in the Park - Sherborne Celebrates the Royal Wedding in Pageant Gardens on Friday 29th April from 2 pm - 5 pm. Wondered if the Camera Club would like to take part in any way? We would love to have some 'Official' roving photographers and if you would like to put on a small exhibition about your club and / or Weddings that would be lovely.

Sorry this is rather last-minute but if you are interested please let me know.

Best wishes,
Sue

We run the First-View gallery at The National Trust's Stourhead property. Until recently a lack of space has precluded our showing photographic work. Now, with additional space available we are anxious to put the matter right and would like to make contact with local camera clubs to discuss our forthcoming exhibitions and competitions.
I would be grateful for a response, even if only to say there is no interest.
Regards

Dear Gillian,Thank you for your club and competing other clubs for making me so welcome. It was also a welcome surprise to meet and old friend, John Rock, from my camera club whom i had not seen for many years. Thank for your kind comments about my judging. For my part it was a challenging and enjoyable task, given the high quality of work by the respective clubs, to give my comments and assessment on prints submitted. pity about my photograph. I promise you I was not in agony!!! Actually I never enjoy being photographed and once again thank you for inviting me along to judge your competition. Best regards Martin Western

Dear Sir / Madam,

My name is David Clapp and I am a professional photographer based in South West England. I mainly specialise in landscape and travel photography, and I am also a photo journalist writing for magazines such as Practical Photography, Amateur Photographer and Digital Photographer.

I frequently give talks to camera clubs and wondered if your group would be interested in hosting me as a guest speaker. I have covered topics such as landscape photography (this can be tailored to the South West); travel photography and camera / computer / processing technique. I have spoken to a number of camera clubs both in the south west and further a field including Kingsbridge, Taunton, Newton Abbot, Exeter, Jersey, Liskeard, Ivybridge, Nottingham etc. I will be speaking at the Royal Photographic Society conference this Autumn.

I am a competent speaker, having been a music teacher prior to a photographer and I have been involved in some of the Grammar schools in the South West teaching students about photography and leading workshops. At present I am in the process of establishing a series of workshops both for groups and on an individual basis, so please let me know if you or your members would be interested in this aspect. These can be tailor made to suit individual / group requirements.

My fee for a camera club talk is £85 plus travel expenses.

Please contact me if you are interested as I am currently taking bookings for the next year.

Sherborne/Bradford Abbas Camera Club
22nd January 2010

Dear Sir,

“Images of Nature”

I wondered if your Camera Club would be interested in seeing one of my illustrated colour slide lectures which I have shown to many societies over the past 9 years and has been received very well.

I have two talks lasting approximately 1 hour each. They are both illustrated colour slide presentations and the first part covers mainly birds photographed either in my garden or in hides in the woods owned by the Worcestershire/Warwickshire Wildlife Trust which are about 3 miles from where I live. I explain about the type of food I use to entice different species of birds into situations where I want to photograph them, the hides I build and type of camera equipment I have. The second part covers a more diverse range of wildlife such as reptiles, amphibians, fungi, butterflies, dragonflys, insects and various mammals taken either in the UK or in Europe. For Camera Clubs I usually combine the two talks making it around 1.1/ 2 to 1.3/4 hours in total.

My fee for 2010/2011 is £40.00 plus the cost of actual petrol used, not a mileage charge. If these details are of interest to your Camera Club, please ring my wife Margaret on 01527 853444 and she will be happy to arrange a suitable date. You can also view my images on my web site - peterpreece.com

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely
