Meetings Cancelled!

Because of the weather our meeting with Yeovil Camera Club on Monday 11 January is cancelled. This will be re-scheduled for later in the year.

Our meeting on Tuesday 12 January at Bradford Abbas Village Hall is also cancelled.

Members – please check your email for further updates.

Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!

Meeting 9 September – AGM

Our Annual General Meeting was held on Tuesday evening and a record of the meeting has been circulated to members of the Camera Club. The meeting was well attended and we got through quite a busy agenda.

Keith Lane

Our chairman, Keith Lane, had indicated that he would like to stand down as chairman and treasurer and so we had elections to appoint new officers of the club.

Brian C. agreed to continue as vice-chairman. Trevor proposed Gillian as chaiman and this was seconded by Norman. Norman was proposed as treasurer by Keith and this was seconded by Gillian. Both posts were voted unanimously. Betty has volunteered to help with the programme and competitions and we will confirm her appointment at a later meeting.

We therefore have a new committee.

Those attending the meeting expressed their immense gratitude to Keith for the service he has given to the club over a period of 12 years as chairman. Keith has worked solidly for the club, sometimes in very difficult circumstances, and we owe the success and stability of the club to his very loyal endeavours. The new committee has his very inspiring lead to follow.

Overton Cup

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 27 November and this will be the annual competition for the best black and white print.

The cup was donated by the late Iris Overton, one of the founders of our club, and is a prestige award. This year the judge will be Jim Eastaugh from Wincanton.

Each member can submit up to five mounted black and white prints.

Let’s make this competition a keen one. See you next week!

Sherborne Area Community Lunch

We’ve just attended the lunch that we were invited to and we met up with Caz again. The event was attended by members of voluntary groups in Sherborne and was an opportunity to hear about the efforts of others who are working in other groups and clubs in the town.

The Mayor of Sherborne gave a ‘welcome’ address:

Our ‘CSV Make A Difference Day’ awards were mentioned and everyone clapped us. And Caz was in full cry:

Nearly everyone had a good time:

TheVolunteer Centre lunches will be held every two months and we are all invited to attend the next one.

Surprise Awards

At our meeting on 13 November, Keith announced that members of the Club had been awarded certificates for ‘volunteering and making a difference on CSV Make A Difference Day 2007′.

Frome Camera Fair – 4 November

Sherborne Castle Autumn Colours

The Castle is open for the weekend Saturday and Sunday 27 and 28 October to view the autumn colours in the grounds. If the weather is OK, this is a wonderful photo opportunity!

Entrance is at a reduced rate of £2 and you can also visit the interior if you wish.
