Leigh Village Hall Opening Ceremony

Meeting 11 November – Wheal Martyn China Clay Mine

One of Betty Deavin’s favourite photographic themes is industrial archeology and on Tuesday night she gave us an excellent presentation of the history of the Wheal Martyn China Clay mine in Cornwall. Using photographs that she had taken herself and also some from the museum in St Austell, Betty gave us a detailed explanation of the china clay mining process.
