The Iris Overton Cup is the club’s annual award for the best black and white print. Our judge this year was Jim Eastaugh of Wincanton. Jim is a well-known local photographer and judge and he told us that he knew Iris Overton, in whose memory this trophy is awarded. Each member of the club can enter up to five black
Leigh Village Hall Opening Ceremony
During the past 18 months Camera Club members Linda, Betty and Gillian have been photographing the construction of the new Leigh Village Hall. This project, together with our photographic record of the old village hall (soon to be demolished) will be the subject of our Camera Club meeting on 9 December. Meeting 11 November – Wheal Martyn China Clay Mine
One of Betty Deavin’s favourite photographic themes is industrial archeology and on Tuesday night she gave us an excellent presentation of the history of the Wheal Martyn China Clay mine in Cornwall. Using photographs that she had taken herself and also some from the museum in St Austell, Betty gave us a detailed explanation of the china clay mining process.
