Meeting 25 March – PAGB Print Exhibition
On Tuesday evening, 25 March, we viewed the print portfolio from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain.
Over 150 images were presented, viewed as slides of the prints. The prints were submitted by Camera Clubs belonging to the PAGB and covered a wide variety of subjects and techniques.
What our members found interesting was that there seemed to be a clear fashion for ‘pale’ photographic images. Examples were landscapes of snow with white clouds and white sheep, or for lovely pale ladies dressed in white enhanced only by red lipstick.
Some of the images were truly inspiring while others were felt by some members to be rather over-manipulated. The purists among us tended to the view that perhaps some of these ought be be described rather as ‘graphic art’ rather than ‘photography’.
Ho hum. With the advent of digital photography, photography itself is clearly in a process of transition and these prints illustrated that trend admirably!
